My first college semester!

(READ THE POST BEFORE THIS TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!)

Long story short, I had to take the same high school math class four times because I cheated. Lesson for the kids. The fourth time I went through it was in my senior year, and I passed easily with an A. The next class was the one I had failed with a D in it two years before, so I was pretty nervous. I passed that with a B.

Because I'm not going into a maths, sciences, or engineering major, I don't need to have very many college math classes. I actually only need one, College Algebra. So that was it this semester, my last math class EVER! All my teachers at the college psyched me out for it beforehand. The one dude was all like, "it's the hardest class they offer here, even harder than calculus because they teach you so much in so little time!" and "I know people that have had to retake it 5 times!!!". lol, he really was like that.

Well I took College Algebra this semester and passed with an A. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An A in my last math class ever!!!!!!! I am so happy!!!!! A in College Alg, A in French 2, A in Eng Comp, and A in Ballet I/II.

And altogether in my last three semesters in college, I have only one B. The rest of my grades are all A's! Three A's my very first semester, two A's and a B the second semester, and four A's my first Freshman semester! woot woot :P I didn't even think I could get an A in college algebra. And now I'm done with math FOREVER!!!!! lol you must excuse my crazy happiness. Math and I have had an interesting, complicated relationship over the years.

Also this semester I completed all of my math and language cred that I'll need, as well as computer literacy. I think I have 27 college credits now! almost one "full" year.

A little backstory

Finally finished with this semester - my first real semester in college! Meaning now I'm taking all college-level classes and I'm officially a high school graduate. For my senior year last year I took all of my classes at the community college, but I had one math class each semester that was high-school level and not college. So, this semester I was officially 100% a college student! yay for that!

I took four classes. College Algebra, French 2, English Comp 1, and Ballet I/II. I should have been in French 3 by now but the school didn't offer it at a good time last semester when I should have taken it. Anyway, I thought I'd sum up a little bit of my first Freshman year college semester for you, if you care to know at all!

First things first. When I was 15, I started cheating in school, particularly in math. I had a teacher, Capt Hook let's call him, who didn't take and grade your homework, so you didn't really have to do it. So I went through the first chapter of material and didn't really do the homework. Then came the first test, and wouldn't you know it, I got around 67%. Either way I didn't pass the test.

Now here comes the fun part. Not only did I fail the test, my teacher Capt Hook saw fit to tell THE WHOLE CLASS that I got the lowest score on the test and failed. There were other people that failed too, but my score was lowest so for some reason he thought it would humor people to see me humiliated or something. Nice guy, huh? I mean seriously?!?! Who does that?!?! Some people are not meant to teach. And by the way, I was the youngest person in the class. I decided after that class that I was going to drop out because I hated him for doing that. But I was also really scared that I was just stupid because I had failed and been humiliated for it. So, my mom decided to teach me the same math class, just at home.

Now, I've never been an outwardly rebellious or bad child. I've always been more sneaky. For example I'll use a cookie jar analogy: If there's a cookie jar on the counter, of course the kids want the cookies, but their parents have told them not to take any. However these children are exceptionally naughty, and they have both decided to sneak cookies anyway. Well, my brother would go into the kitchen and take the cookie from the jar right in front of my parents in order to get what he wanted and to show his defiance. Me on the other hand...I would wait until my mom was busy with my little sister, my brother was playing with legos, and my dad was mowing the lawn. Then I'd make my move. Stealthily I'd creep into the kitchen, silently open the jar, and use a pair of tongs or something to pull the cookie out. Once the cookie was in my possession, I'd creep back into my room, then sit in my closet with the door shut while I ate it so no one would be the wiser. Case in point: I'm just more of a silent-but-deadly type.

So, now that I had been frightened of the whole concept of failing math, I took it into my own hands to assure that I would get a good grade on every test. I cheated. That's the problem with being schooled at home if you're sneaky like me. You know where the answer book is, and you can't get expelled if you get caught. I never got caught, but cheating on two questions quickly turned into cheating on EVERY problem in my homework or on my test. And that soon expanded into other subjects I was working on.

Thanks to my cheating escapade, the next year my parents put me in highschool-level math classes at the community college, when I was 15/16ish. I passed the first class with a C but I failed the next one with a D. That shattered my confidence even more in the arena of mathematics, so the next year I did my math at home again. I started to do the problems on my own by that point, but I still struggled with the temptation of cheating.

Before my senior year, I took the college's placement test for math and was placed back in the same algebra class as before (the one I got a C in). Pretty frustrating considering that this would be my third or fourth time doing it.

In my next post I'll tell you why I wasted all of your time writing this backstory!

Get ready to be depressed...

Miley Cyrus at the MTV EMA's in Madrid...
This made me so sad, depressed, and actually sick to my stomach. I didn't exactly know how to sum up that performance...part zombie/lady gaga wannabe, which is usual now, part $5 hooker, part looking-ridiculous-because-I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing.

It actually made me really really sad for Miley, and I'm not usually a feel-sorry-for-others person. I've pretty much been ripping Miley apart the last 2 years because she's abusing the power she's been given. With great power comes great responsibility.

I just watched the most recent ep of Hannah Montana Forever last night and there was a look back at Miley on the show since the first episode when she was 12. Seeing those images of such a sweet, innocent little girl and then watching this video was hard for me. She has lost all the innocence she ever had. And now I'm wondering how much of it is really her wanting to be slutty, how much is the lack of responsibility on behalf of her parents, how much is the influence of her peers, and how much is the decision of those who put together her performances. Anyhow.

It literally broke my heart to see what she has become. I really felt a dark, almost evil presence (I know that sounds weird) in her performance in Madrid. IT really seems to me that she doesn't have anything good in her life and the influence of dark things have completely taken over.

I know, I know, you're probably thinking I'm crazy, but I am really sensitive to things of that nature. Not in the "oh, that's so bad let me cover my eyes/Duggar family" way, but I get a really strong feeling in my heart and the pit of my stomach when something is wrong. That's one thing that I think God has gifted me with that has saved me from a lot of evil throughout my life.

So, one of my issues is not having enough compassion for people, and instead I tend to judge them and be more negative. At least with matters of this nature (celebs and all that). But I felt so bad for Miley at the end of this video...I just feel like God's putting it on my heart to pray for her. So I'm going to make a more conscious effort to pray for her...and I want to encourage other people to do the same. She really needs the support of people who actually want the best for her.

Think I'm crazy if you will.

Everywhere you look, I'm standing in the spotlight!

I just can't WAIT to be king!
Here's my new Simba hat! Lol I love it. It has this little bit that sticks up like Simba's hair, but you can't see it in the photo. And I'm making a weird face :P

Anywayssss, this is kind of a Lion King post. Why? Because it's awesome. Like duh.

In case you didn't already know, Whoopi Goldberg did a one-night-only performance in TLK on Bway wherein she played a bunch of different roles in the show. Here's the video, which is hilarious.

I'm so excited to see it next year!!!!!! lol

In other news, my Etsy shop is really starting to come along I've had 7 sales now and I've been listing a bunch of new times (16+) and even made some custom items for a customer. !!!! Yay!!!! I need the money.

In other other news, I had to get a wig to wear for this costume party scavenger hunt I'm doing with my church (I'm a hs leader and that was my job for the event). So I picked this one, which of course is not the highest quality wig but I'm not keeping it or paying for it myself so I'm not worried.

Well....I thought I had a lot more to say but....guess not...so...kay bye!

In the mind of a child

This post is dedicated to my mom

Tonight we had a little girls night in and watched Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, the one with Lesley Ann Warren. My mom was telling us all about how much she loved the movie when she was little and it was very sweet :) She said that she always thought it was the saddest move because of how terribly Cinderella was treated and how pitiful she was. She was telling us all
about how much she loved (and still loves) Cinderella's ballgown, with the little bit of sparkle and the tiara. "With that dress and that crown, you don't need any earrings or necklace," she was saying :P And then came the ball scene, and my mom was telling me about how she always knew Cinderella and the prince were meant for each other because when Cinderella comes to the ball, they are wearing matching outfits. ♥ And during the scene when Cinderella has to leave the ball, my mom said she had cried because she was so worried and didn't know what would happen to Cinderella. This was when she was about 5 years old.

Then we were talking about how magical things can be for children, and how some movies and music can make you feel the same feelings that they did when you were a child and how that never goes away. I was thinking about just how cool it is that she still ha
s all of those memories after all this time, and it was very sweet of her to share them. I don't hear that kind of stuff from her very often. It was just really cool to hear stuff like that from my mom, because I really enjoy finding out more about my parents. They are such awesome people.

So I wanted to dedicate this post to my mom
♥ I love you!

to the people with whom I conversated

I was going through all of my old docs today and I found a few chat convos I had saved, and some random jokes. I'm not disclosing any of the names of the people with whom I had these conversations or anything, but I will tell you which one is me and what relationship I have with the other person.

Me + E: My friend
Me: I need new shoes...but I don't have the money. So I'm going to dress up like a beggar, and put on an English accent and sit in the street, covered in mud.
E: well okay
Me: And ask people for money.
E: Just look both ways before sitting in the street.
Me: And if they say no I'll staple them with a stapler. So there.
E: Wow. That's vicious.
Me: Of course, sitting in the mud will make my worn out shoes even worse so it kind of defeats the purpose....... :/ Lol
E: True dat. Lol

It was totally random but I find it to be a funny memory.

Me + S: My brother.
This one requires a little backstory before you begin reading. It was the night before my 17th birthday, around 11:55ish. I had told my bro (who was away at school atm) that I wasn't going to grow up and instead I was going to go to Neverland that night and I would be 16 forever. He made a joke about catching a flight on the "pixie plane", so that's what that whole deal is.

S:
any spare seats on the pixieplane?
Me:
just one
S:
alright, I want an aisle seat in first class
Me:
hurry up
(And the clock strikes twelve)
Me:
Wow. I'm 17 now.
S:
no you're not.
Me:
and 2 minutes
S:
you're on hte pixieplane
Me:
oh yeah nevermind
S:
but tinkerbell pantsed me so I missed it
Me:
the pixie dust messes with my brain
S:
lol
Me:
She doesn't like you
S:
I know, I'm too awesome for my shirt

That one is really a favorite of mine. We have the "pixie plane" joke at all of my birthday stuff now. :) I think my flight got delayed though. Still waitin', Peter! lol

The French Ditcher
One day my sister and I were talking about this Thanksgiving ding-dong-ditch thing our church was doing. It's a lot better than it sounds, lol. We make up thanksgiving dinner baskets and ding-dong-ditch someone's house. We leave them at the door of less fortunate people. Anyway, my sister for some reason was joking in a French accent (o.O) and said this.
*Knock on the door* "Hello, I am a French ditcher! And I am here to join your league of ding-dong-ditchings!"
Totally weird, I know. It's hard to get why it's funny unless you heard her. My sister is like this mad comedian person and she had the accent and like a funny face and everything :P

Well that's it for the moment, read my other post about the princess bride stuff :P lol well you don't have to. But yeah I hope you understood some of this, if you even read past the first one.

a post of random proportions

So I haven't posted random stuff in a little while. Well I guess that's debatable depending on how your mind works o.O But anyway, here is a little post about random stuff! Are you ready?!?!

THE LION KING DIAMOND EDITION IS COMING OUT NEXT YEAR. OMGsh. It's like my 3rd favorite Disney movie! Little Mermaid/Beauty and the Beast, then The Lion King. Then Sleeping Beauty. I think. There's just waaaay to many awesome Disney movies to choose from to list my favorites after TLM BATB and TLK. Anyways I saw the commercial for it online and I got all excited. I bought something this morning before I knew about this that has to do with The Lion King but I don't have it yet so no pictures :/

I love Mufasa. He is the single most amazing male character ever made. I just hear that name and I shudder. *Mufasa...Mufasa Mufasa Mufasa!* lol I am SUCH a dork. But he really is the best.

And.....my next birthday (early spring next year) my parents have already told me what they're going to give me. The Lion King (pretty much the BEST stage musical ever, other than POTO according to everyone) is coming here on their national tour. So I get to go see it!!!! Yay for all of this crazy Disney-ness!

This is just a random commercial, something a little funny to brighten up your day a teensy bit. Dibs on the plaid ones.

Other than that, TANGLED looks amazing...especially the new trailer they released last month. The first trailer was fine, it looked funny, but the next trailer has that powerful more epic feel. I'm liking what they're doing with Rapunzel's personality in terms of originality.

Went to my first high school football game tonight, even though I'm no longer in high school. I know that sounds weird but it never really appealed to me before like this year. Anyways, I don't know much about football so whenever the people in our stand started shouting my friend and I were yelling random things we had heard from movies with football scenes, like: "I LOVE FOOTBALL!" and "KILL THE LANCERS!" from a Cinderella Story. It was fun and during halftime they had these "Junior Cheerleaders" come out and do a routine with the high school cheerleaders (who all looked like they were 12 o.O). And they danced to "Best of Both Worlds" from Hannah Montana. It was cute and suiting for the age group, but it was just really depressing to see all of those little girls dancing to Miley's music considering how much of a.....well, you know what she is.

Well that's all I got for now, I should be getting a lot of sleep because I have to go to dance class tomorrow morning and then babysit tomorrow night and I won't have much chance to relax.

Remember who you are.

Summer heat in October :o

I can't believe it's already October! Where did August and September go?? The really weird thing is that here where I live, it's usually begun to snow by September. Today the weather was 83 degrees! I am absolutely LOVING it! Of course I am looking forward to the fall/winter weather because it means I can wear cute scarves, coats, and boots :P I would prefer the heat though.
Oh, a little sidenote - anyone else on Twitter? My twitter is HannahBurlew so feel free to find me on there and add me. I've got my posts hidden from people who aren't approved but as long as you're not a 45 year old creeper dude, I'll add you. :)

Since I'm here I thought I might as well post some info about my online pages and things. First of all, I have an Etsy shop - JuicyJewelryStore. You probably already know that (if you've been on the blog before), but in case you're new, there you are! I make polymer clay jewelry like donut earrings, eggs and bacon, hostess cupcakes, and more! I just made my very first sale on Sunday night and I was so psyched! I hope the buyer will be pleased with his purchase. I just sent it out today so it should be there before too long. I've been considering sending a few "sample" products to bakeries and places like that who might appreciate them. What do you think?

Random note! I went to Walmart today to get some bubble wrap to wrap the earrings I sold in before they shipped. All they had were these huge rolls so that's what I had to get....but they were PINK!! How cool is that? Colored bubble wrap. :P I think I'll have to take a pic of it. It's in honor of the breast cancer research going on right now. Speaking of that...or related to that......

My best friend's mother died from ovarian cancer over a year ago now, and she's running in a race to support her family and research for ovarian cancer. Here's the link to the little site she's got up: Run for Her . Please please PLEASE support her if you can. She's doing something very noble and it's all in memory of her mother. You can't imagine what it will mean to her if you can help her out. Even in the smallest amount, like even if you can only spare 20 cents. :)Well that's all I got right now... I'm like uber-depressed and I hate it because I almost never get like this but it's like I'm mad because I'm sad and that makes me sad, which again makes me mad.....I need a pick-me-up.

Beauty and the Beast

Tale as old as time, true as it can be. Barely even friends, then somebody bends, unexpectedly. Just a little change, small to say the least. Both a little scared, neither one prepared, Beauty and the Beast. Ever just the same, ever a suprise, ever as before, ever just as sure, as the sun will rise. Certain as the sun, rising in the east. Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast. Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme...Beauty and the Beast.

Beauty and the Beast first came out in theaters in 1991, when I was still in the womb. I never got the chance to see it on the big screen, but I've seen it countless times regardless :). It's by far the best Disney film ever made, and I would argue that it's the best animated film ever made - it is the only animated film to be nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture.

Belle has been my role model since I was too young to remember! My mom has a baby book for me, in which she states that when I was about 2 years old, I would stand in front of the tv when Beauty and the Beast was playing and I would sing all of Belle's lines and dance to everything else. My parents bought me the DVD when it was released for the first time (on DVD) in 2001, and I still have it :). I have a newer copy too, and I'm planning on getting both the Blu-Ray and DVD versions when they come out in the next two months. Ask anyone who knows me well and they can tell you about how much I have still look up to Belle and how much I love Beauty and the Beast.

The re-release of Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition is this year, and in honor of that, Beauty and the Beast was put back into theaters for two exclusive showings! You can only imagine my excitement and anticipation! I have literally waited my whole life to see this movie in theaters.

My dad wanted to take me to see it (how sweet is that?!?), so we bought tickets and went to the first showing, on Wednesday the 29th of September 2010. (This is kind of a "scrapbook" post :P) We were the first ones there, first ones into the seats, and got the best seats in the place. I wore a blue top (BELLE!) and did my hair in a sort of twisty ponytail to make it look more like Belle's, and I wore a pink rose ring. Call me a geek, but you have no idea how much this meant to me. The movie was fantasic and every bit as wonderful as ever. I actually cried during the movie :')
Judge me if you will. If you do, you don't love the movie as much as I do. :)

I've been singing Beauty and the Beast all week for voice practice (even though it's in my low register/chest voice) and when I practiced for ballet I used a ballet style recording of Beauty and the Beast. I bought a Beauty and the Beast tote to take with me to the movie. I could barely contain my excitement!!!!! I'm not even sure I did :P !!! The sing along part was really cool; I think I would have enjoyed it a little more to see it without the words on the bottom of the screen, but nothing was bringing this down for me. Below are some of the pics of me at the theater before I got to see the movie that shaped my childhood/life for the first time on the big screen.

There's me with my ticket! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I still can't believe how amazing it was. I feel like Beauty and the Beast has also helped me decide what to do for college. I only wish I could have worn a Belle costume to the movie, but college students like me generally lack funds.

I love Beauty and the Beast.

Commercials, part deux or trois

More commercials! I spent most of the day today on the couch feeling sick so I watched a lot of tv. So I thought I'd post some more of the interesting commercials I saw that stuck out to me.

Target hat commercial
lol I totally wear hats

M&M's commercial
.............m&ms.................

Fiber One Commercial
Fiber one is actually really good...

Talking Pothole Commercial
Oh shoot, I ain't got no cell phone!

So today in math class....you know, the one with Justin Bieber? Well today in class he told the teacher that he had to miss an upcoming class, and asked if he could still get credit for it because he was going to be performing in a concert. The teacher said yes - if you were one of the Jonas Brothers. lol

well I thought I had a lot more to say but I guess not...so.....kay bye!

Stylists

Tess from Camp Rock 2 is totally being styled by the same person as Hannah Montana!

That's all I have to say.

You know what gets on my nerves....

Parents who spoil their kids, particularly when their kids will only eat what they want. Ever heard of parenting? Yeah, that's your job. It's not that hard to make them eat healthy food or different food. Just don't give them the option and trust me, when they realize they're not getting what they want and then get hungry enough, they'll eat anything.

Anyway, the reason I'm venting about this is because of this commercial . It's ridiculous! Parents shouldn't have to trick their kids into eating vegetables!

Oh and then there's this Pediasure commercial. That's even worse! Her diet starting to affect her health and brain development! And the woman just buys the little pediasure bottles which only "help" fill the holes. The girl's still gonna be behind and now she's spoiled too.

Am I crazy for thinking this? I mean it's no wonder America is so obese!

This is a good vegetable/children related commercial. The girl knows she's eating vegetables and is even willing to share the news with other people. Her parents are raising her right in that respect and I bet her diet won't negatively affect her health and brain development. Sheesh.

Well that's all for this post, I'll probably blog again and add something later. Something more positive. :)

Eat your vegetables!

To Infinity and Beyond!

I totally want to do interval notation now! LOL my math teacher was explaining interval notation today and he says (in a Greek accent), "You put the closed bracket, 2, comma, then infinity and an open parentheses - to infinity and beyond!" pauses. "I enjoy Toy Story 3." :P

I am so excited to see TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue! I've always been the biggest fan of Peter Pan, and of course fairies - if you don't believe that's just sad! :'( Anyways, I love me some fairies and Neverland, and I was really stoked when the TinkerBell/Disney Fairies books and merch came out in 2005. I read some of the books (as many as I could :P).
Vidia is my most favorite character of them all, and they're finally actually featuring her in the new movie AND they're putting Vidia into the Disney parks! EEEEE! Haha lol

So keeping with the movies theme, here's my list of movies that I want to see!

#1 - Beauty and the Beast!

It's being re-released into theaters this month. I've never seen it in theaters so I am sooooo happy about that!

#2 - Tangled.

Need I say more? I can't wait to hear the songs! The new trailer premieres tomorrow online.

#3 - The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I'm taking my little sister to see it the day it comes out as her birthday present :) I love Narnia.

#4 - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
I am a diehard Pirates fan :D While I'm disappointed about Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann won't be in it, I don't think they could be in it because of the ending of the third one. You know what happens. But I am annoyed about the possible love interest with Penelope Cruz and Jack Sparrow because A) Jack Sparrow is not a "love" kind of guy, and B) I don't like Penelope Cruz. I can't understand a word out of her mouth. But I am being optimistic, and I hope they prove me wrong with whatever doubts I have.

My Etsy shop/item was featured in this treasury!

Random prediction - you know how popular owls are right now with clothes, accessories, jewelry, etc? I think it's going to get super big in the next month.

I feel like I need to put something here...oh yes random picture! Whoopi Goldberg as Shenzi in her one night performance in The Lion King on Broadway! Super awesome.

I am thinking about buying a rose ring, and I can't decide right now, so I need opinions! Which one of these looks most like the rose from Beauty and the Beast? Pics of the rose are below.

Ring 1
Ring 2
Ring 3

So what do you think? I want to get one to wear to see Beauty and the Beast on two weeks when it's in THEATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU TELL I'M EXCITED??!?!?!?!! LOL, yes I am excited, in case you were wondering. So give me your opinion if you have one please! I have to get it in the next few days to get it here in time. :)

Aladdin Necklace

Wonderland Tea Party Necklace

Bambi Pendant
:)
Stitch Necklace
Reminds me of my puppy.
Queen Victoria Necklace
I'm a huge fan of Queen Victoria. As weird as that may be o.O

Yeah so when I have moneys I'll have to start buying stuff. I bought a few rings last week (they're in the mail):
Minnie Mouse ring 1
Minnie Mouse ring 2
Rose ring

So I think I have to do something in order to get said money, since I don't have a job and I'm hardly babysitting anymore these days (partly by choice). I've got a few items for sale in my Etsy shop:

I have tons more though - about two years ago I went a little nuts making jewelry with food charms like donuts, poptarts, slices of pie, fruits, etc and that's what they're from. I will probably add more on their so people can see more of what I've done. If you want anything custom made I can do that too! :P That was a shameless plug :P

Random pic! Elizabeth and Will from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, one of my favorite movies EVAR and one of my favorite couples ever :) Enjoy
