Cardboard Cars, Eclipse, and Lookalikes

In a previous post I had mentioned that one of my summer plans was to work on my full length Twilight synopsis. Well I decided I wanted to rest my brain after reading the books last semester for my speech class, and I haven't even thought about it until now. But, I was having an online debate of sorts about Twilight and it got me going again, and of course in about one minute Eclipse will begin showing in theaters all around the country, so it's on my mind again. Anyway, I'm going to be working on it over the next month or so, and I was hoping I could get some help. I'm going to be presenting the synopsis and I will get a Q&A session thing afterwards, so I need to know: why do you like Twilight? What do you like about Twilight? How do you defend Twilight against anti-Twilight people? Etc, etc, etc. I want to be prepared for any and all questions. So if you think of anything, please comment!

Just to be clear - I do not have anything against people who like, love, or obsess over Twilight! I am not meaning to be derogatory, demeaning, or anything. I have personal issues (wow that sounds weird) with Twilight and Stephenie Meyer. So please don't think I'm trying to bash anyone who is a fan.

Random little thing - cardboard cars going through drive-throughs. LOL, my brother and I were talking about it the other day and then I googled some pics and videos of people. It's funny stuff. I was actually thinking about doing it when I was about 12, but my lack of cardboard and parental support stopped me from doing it. Maybe I can get a group together now and try it. Apparently Wendy's is super strict and they hate it when people try funny business at drive-throughs, so I'll see about McDonalds instead. Here's the link to a video of some girls doing the cardboard car drive-through joke.

The Princess Diaries movies were on Disney Channel about two weeks ago and I've since been thinking about princess movies. Some of my favorite princessy-type movies are:
Ever After
The Princess Bride

The Little Mermaid

Beauty and the Beast
all other Disney princess movies

Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement

The Young Victoria

a Cinderella Story

Enchanted
Thumbelina (<3)

and Penelope.
What are some of yours? I looove princess movies so I'm always looking for new ones to check out.

Oh and speaking of Twilight, Eclipse is out as of now - tonight. I'm not going to see it anytime soon but I thought it would be interesting to go to a popular cinema and just see how many girls there are. I figure with Twilight's popularity, you'd have to be a pretty devoted fan to go see the movie on the day it comes out. And I really hope that the people working at the cinemas with the crazy fangirls don't get overwhelmed and that their eardrums don't get blown out by the screaming. :/

It's been like two weeks since I posted last but it feels like two months o.O Youtube has been really weird the last week or two - I've tried to upload some videos and it never finishes processing them, or it aborts the upload. Has it been acting up for you?

Oh, and Risu Kim I've been reading your posts and everything but blogger won't let me comment on anything! I noticed that after you changed the layout, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. But I have been reading and attempting to comment :(

Random pic - they had that doppelganger week thing on facebook where everyone posted their celebrity lookalike as their profile pic. Who do you get compared to? Most of the time, I get Anna Popplewell (Susan from Narnia). Especially when the movies come out. But I think she's pretty and not obnoxious so I don't mind :P. I also get Olivia Wilde, Rachel Weisz, Kate Beckinsale, Rose Byrne, and Rachel McAdams. Hmm. Anyways, the pic is of Anna Popplewell from the Chronicles of Narnia.

Karate Kid Review!

So I had a kinda "family day" today and we all went to see Karate Kid (Starring Jaden Smith).
First off a little background on how I went into this movie. I've seen Jaden in a few things (Suite Life, some apocalyptic movie) and I was so extremely unimpressed with him as an actor. I felt like the only reason he was in anything was because he's Will Smith's son. Second, I have never liked Jackie Chan. My older brother is a crazy good martial artist and know-it-all - and he has just about every Jackie Chan movie ever made, so it's pretty safe to say I've had an overdose of JC. And I've seen the other preceding Karate Kid movies. NEVER liked them, at ALL, so I'm not comparing them to this one at all. I HATE the original Karate Kid movies. And third, my whole family has been in martial arts for over 10 years now.

My brother and dad started first (Tae Kwon Do) and then eventually got my mom to start and then kinda forced my sister and I into it because 1) they liked it and 2) at the time we were living somewhere where you pretty much HAD to know self-defense. The rule was we had to stay in the sport until we reached black belt. So yeah. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Mad skillz. Lol, anyway I quit almost a year ago now, as I have never enjoyed it except when I'm training for a tournament, which has only been twice. :/ But yeah everyone in my family has a first degree black belt (bb) in TKD, my dad +mom have second degree bb's, and my brother has a third degree. My bro also practices Kung Fu and Karate, in which he has a blue sash (I think?) and a black belt. So there is a lot of martial-arty-ness going on in my family home.

Anyway, I've just spent pretty much half the post on my martial arts past, so I'll get on with it.
Here's the summary from IMDB.com: "12-year-old Dre Parker could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying - and the feeling is mutual - but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts "the karate kid" on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han, who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life."

So Jackie Chan takes on Jaden Smith as a student because he promises someone that he'll fight the bully in the tournament. *NOTE: NO SERIOUS SPOILERS!!!!! :D* They train, fight, and then the movie ends. *I TOLD YOU!*

Highlights of the movie:
Jaden Smith's acting has mega-improved and now I think he's a pretty darn decent child actor. He reminds me of his dad occasionally - he's not the spitting image, but he has the same walk and some facial expressions are dead-on. The fight scenes are (generally) really realistic, and I especially like the tournament parts. I've been in martial arts tournaments before and I really appreciate how real it felt to watch - like it was live and you were a part of the audience. At the same time, I also understand the nerves, pressure, and other emotions involved in fighting in a tournament so I found myself feeling a little nervous right before he stepped onto the mat every time. Which I just found funny, but you can't really understand it unless you've been in a sparring tournament yourself. The bully kid is my hero LOL. He did a good job of making me hate him. And also, it's a super feel-good movie. It's so much better IMO than the old versions.

Lowlights of the movie:
I just don't like Jackie Chan. Something about him gets on my nerves really bad. I can ignore it, but my mom thought he "made the movie", and I thought Jaden did (that ticked me off). I could have seen anyone else in Chan's role and it wouldn't have made a difference to the movie's rating/quality. Um, there is also one super unrealistic fight sequence (if you wanna know which one, just comment and I'll tell you) that was way too fake for me. I've seen Ong-Bak, okay? And lastly there was one dance scene with a little girl that I felt was waaaaay inappropriate! She dances to Lady Gaga and is super suggestive. Did not like that.

Overall:
See it! Feel good movie, Jaden is really good. The people in the theater clapped during the last scenes/the ending. Unless of course you're a pacifist, in which case this movie probably won't agree with you :P.

Wow, that was a lot of writing. Well, I'm excited! Toy Story 3 comes out tomorrow and ANDY IS GOING TO COLLEGE. SINCE WHEN?!?! Lol I'm like his age. I want to see Molly. She'd be like 11-12ish now I think. This is going to sound random but it ties in, I promise. I had a migraine last night and went to bed early. Whenever I go to bed early, I wake up in the middle of the night. And usually when I wake up, I have a song or two playing in my head. I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and had "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2 and "Jolly Holiday" from Mary Poppins playing in my head. o.O Yeah very random mix. I unforunately can't go see the movie for a little while bc my schedule is all busy and stuff for most of the summer. But I will be seeing it for sure! I'm also super excited about Barbie and Ken. Lol I'm a dork like that! Barbies were a big part of my childhood so yeah. And Jodi Benson is Barbie, so how can I not be excited?
Isn't it weird though that Barbie in the Disney movies looks more authentic then Barbie in the Barbie movies?

No random pic this time because I ran out of space in this post! :)

Pilates!

I've been in a major workout slump for like six months now. Last December I got to my goal weight. One week later, I got sick for two and a half weeks and gained around 7 lbs that I haven't been able to get rid of since. It sucks and I don't feel good. So I'm looking into different exercise options. I want to try Pilates and Yoga, and also start a good cardio routine or go to a cardio class. I tried out Pilates this morning for the first time ever.

I've never done any strengthening or core muscle workouts before so it was waaaaay difficult for me. I have no core strength at all. And that was the gentle pilates class! Shows how much work I have to do. There were several little old ladies in the class that were breezing through it.....you can imagine my embarrasment......Anyway. The teacher asked me if I was a dancer. I keep getting that, like 6 people asked me last semester and my french teacher was absolutely set in the thought that I was a ballerina. :/ I want to see about trying the Zumba class tomorrow evening. I love dance and I need to get back into it, and this way I'll get a workout as well.

So that's what happened this morning...

Random picture......Is it still random if you know I'm going to post one? Or is it random because you don't know what it will be? Hmm......Well it's kinda on beat with the rest of this blog. It's a picture of a healthy, in shape woman who isn't so sadly off track and out of shape as me :)

Shoutouts

I felt like posting but I couldn't think of anything particularly interesting to write about....so instead, I've decided to do some shoutouts/let you know what blogs I follow. I'm currently only following 3 but they're all good ones :)

I am following:

Stephanie "Risu" is a California girl who works for Disney and True Enchantment Entertainment. She has been cast as their Mulan and Pocahontas! I have a lot of fun reading her posts and interacting with her, and I can't wait for her TEE pics to show up! (There aren't any yet - that's why there is no picture here :'(. )

party perfect

party perfect is run by Sarah Hicks Malone, a graphic designer, illustrator, designer, and mother. Needless to say her life is very busy! Her blog is all about parties - hosting, decorating, games, you name it. I get a lot of good ideas from her site, and you can also ask any questions you have! (photo credit goes to party perfect!)

The Winding Road

The Winding Road is written by Sandra, who is a photographer and mother. I LOVE her pictures to death and (since my mom is a professional photographer) I know when a picture is done right! :D So yeah, check her blog out.

"Tangled" Trailer - Finally!

So FINALLY the first trailer for Disney's "Tangled" has been released. I've only been waiting for this for what.....like 2 years?!?! Anyway, in a previous post I mentioned that the animation (of what had been released so far) looked too much like the Barbie movies in style. Let me just say, I was wrong. The animation is like one billion times better, and far surpasses (from what I've seen in the trailer) Barbie, Shrek, and UP. I now have super high hopes for this movie. Both of the main characters look cute. Here's the newly-released trailer:

Thoughts?

Random pic: Mia Wasikowska (hope I spelled that right) from Burton's "Alice in Wonderland. I really like the smokey eyes on her.

Disney Casts REVISED

So I posted one of these a while back - feel free to comment opinions and etc: Disney Casts.
Well I've made some changes to it on the actual blog and also I'll put some here.

Instead of Natalie Portman as Belle....I changed my mind to Emily Blunt. I think she is a waaaaaay better actress and is more "European", which I'm thinking is more "Belle".

Actually I just saw her in The Young Victoria, which was amazing. Rupert Friend (Keira Knightley's current boyfriend) was pleasantly surprising. He's such a sucky character in Pride and Prejudice and in TYV his character was the complete opposite. I'm going to marry someone like Prince Albert in TYV.... So yeah, I highly recommend that. Actually I might as well make that my movie recommendation for this week/month/whatever. :]

It seems I'm on a bit of a period film kick! Oh well, I don't mind. I love to see movies where modesty, dignity, and chivalry are praised. Not like we get much of that now :'(

Kate Plus 8 is back on TV starting tonight so it should be interesting to see how that goes. It's been a whole year since the show was on the air (with new eps). I like the older J&K+8 Episodes in the old house where they went caroling and had family activities....but I'm gonna give the new show a try and see how it turns out. I might make some monkey munch to snack on while I watch :P yummy.

Random pic! It's a Mickey Mouse ice cream from Disneyland :P More yummy.
