Movie of the Week: Pride and Prejudice

Ok, so I'm gonna give you a movie recommendation! This is just a random thing, if you want me to do it more often just let me know!

Movie of the week: Pride & Prejudice

Alright, Pride and Prejudice is a movie, based on a book by Jane Austen. This review is for the 2005 version, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen. Here is the synopsis from IMDB.com: "The story is based on Jane Austen's novel about five sisters - Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet - in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man (Mr. Bingley) and his best friend (Mr. Darcy) arrive in their neighborhood."
One of few book-to-movie adaptations that can live up to the book. The sheer amazingness of this movie makes it difficult to pick out the good things about it. The love story is so sweet and really touching. I can't think of what to say about it next, because I love it so much. Kind of hard to describe but yeah. Go see it if you haven't already, and if you have, watch it again! Mr. Darcy FTW! (My little sister's a Bingley fan :P)

Random pic: In place of a random picture, I'm posting a pic of my favorite Jane Austen man. Mr. Darcy. Need I say more?

Commercials

A while back I posted and included some of my favorite commercials (here). Since then there have been a bunch more funny commercials coming out so I thought I'd post them here.
Starburst "Contradictions"
Lol I just love that one...

MaliBoomBoom
There is also a MaliBoomBoom Sunshine video that's pretty fun....

Capital One Vikings
These guys are always funny. But I do wonder who came up with the idea to put Vikings on a bank commercial....o.O

Stride Mystery Flavor
These are all kind of were but this one in particular is so random! Can you really ride on an ostrich? I don't know.

Trident Layers
No one ever pays me in gum.

Tut tut, it looks like rain!

Well I'm hoping it will in the morning. It is currently 11:31pm and I should be asleep, but almost EVERY Thursday night I stay up way too late and end up off-schedule for the rest of the weekend. I guess it's because Thursday is my last school day of the week, so it's kind of my stress reliever/rebellion/FREEDOM! thing. Do you have one?

Today's been one of those days where I've really been wanting it to rain. I think it's supposed to rain/snow during the night but I want a really good, heavy rain during the day tomorrow. I've elected to stay home anyway, so it would be nice to curl up and watch the rain.

I've been thinking about what to do over the summer. I am going to really get into - and hopefully finish- my Twilight thesis/analysis. I also want to get some new books because I haven't read anything not school-related in a while, and it will combat the lack of IQ in Twilight. I was thinking about maybe trying my hand at writing a children's story just for fun. Not like to published or anything but if Madonna can do it, then I most certainly can. And probably better! lol.

Hmmm...it's really late and I'm having trouble thinking of anything else to say...so I'd better get going.

But I can't forget the random picture! Today is thank-God-It's-Bride Day on TLC, which means Say Yes to the Dress and Four Weddings will be on (my faves). So there's my favorite Kleinfeld consultant, Keisha working her magic.

So that's it for now, I'm turning in. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Miley Cyrus can't be tamed.

Miley's new video is out. Here it is: Can't be Tamed - Miley Cyrus

So now I'm going to proceed to list off the things I find disturbing or wrong about this (Mind you, it might take a while).

1) Miley is obviously sexed up - a LOT. Problem is that she is not a sexy girl, so it seems like an act. From Miley's actions lately, I think it's fair to say that this video was her idea or that she completely agrees with it. But to be fair since she is underage, I will give her the benefit of the doubt on this one, and say that she has been exposed far too much by (most likely) her parents and producers. And Miley being sexy just doesn't work. She is not - repeat not - no matter how little she is wearing - a sexy girl. She's not Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johannson or Rihanna.

2) She looks like she's semi/almost making out with guys AND girls in this video. She's still underage. That's way beyond inappropriate. I know some guys find that behavior hot, but that is so wrong.

3) In the background - all of the other bird/dancer things. It looks like all sorts of inappropriate/perverted/disturbing activity is going on. That's not the kind of thing that can be taken the wrong way. It's obvious what's going on. There's one in particular around 1:27 that looks like its doing some stuff to Miley.

4) The other dancers are literally in underwear - and some of them are exposing their backsides. Nuff said.

5) I thought she said (in a Miley & Mandy vid) that she was a Christian. That she sings, dances, and acts for Jesus. I can tell most certainly in this video that she IS NOT a Christian. Oh yeah, and she says something about telling people to go to hell. Inappropriateness again.

6) Stripper much? Oh my goodness! I have NEVER seen that much grinding in a music video for someone under 21. She's also laying on the ground writhing around. So much for the "I'm a virgin!" ploy too.

7) I'm actually really worried about what was going on when the cameras weren't filming on that set. I hope Miley's okay.

Miley is heading down the road to destruction faster than LiLo and Britney put together. That's really sad.

I guess the song is titled appropriately though. Miley obviously can't be tamed. Since she's under 18 she technically can't be blamed either. But I don't see herself or her career going anywhere past the age of 22. There's only so much you can do with so little talent.

Anyone remember cute little pre-perversion Miley? This is so drastic a change in only a few years, especially for someone who isn't even 18 yet.

Me + cars on dirt roads + mailboxes = not good

So I was driving on a dirt road this morning on my way to school. I came up over a hill and I noticed the car was going too fast. I started to use the brakes to slow it down and the car started swerving all the way down the hill. I tried to get it to straighten out but I couldn't so I ran over one of those Gazette mailboxes. The mailbox and post were fine but the front of the car is torn up and has a flat tire. I was going to go up to the house (the one the mailbox belongs to) to see if anyone was home but they have a monster-sized, extra large German shepherd guard dog...so that didn't happen.

We were able to get the tire replaced today and I'm going to send the people a letter, offering to pay for anything on the mailbox that needs replacement. The car also needs a new bumper cover, lights, and a paint job, since the new bumper won't match the color of the rest of the car. I'm really glad that I didn't hit another car though or anyone else. And I'm safe too, just a little shaken up and going through the different stages of post-traumatic behavior. :/

It was funny though, because just before I left this morning, I was thinking about how many times God has probably saved my life or kept me from harm - including the ones that I don't know about. Praise the Lord! He must get tired of keeping me out of danger though, because most of those times I know of it's been my fault for being careless.

So onto more happy topics that don't involve me and crashing and mailboxes being bowled over. :)

Disney's "Tangled" is set for release November 24 of this year. If it does well they might put Rapunzel in the Disney parks. I wonder though how much hair they would need for a wig! I'm surprised that there isn't a trailer out yet. ^^^^ Pictures are of Flynn Rider, and Rapunzel - and they are the test run dolls for the movie ^^^^ The Rapunzel doll looks like it needs some work, like in the face (it needs more personality) and in the outfit's quality, but Flynn looks good. I like his eyebrows.

Random picture, let's see what I can dig up... It's a pic from Fitness Magazine. Of a woman exercising. Something I haven't been motivated enough to do the last 2 weeks. :(
